Mothers Day 2014

This day is so special. It is special to me because of my daughter.
I get to spend every hour of every day teaching her, helping her grow, and just being her mommy. I get to hear her say new words and sounds, watch her imagination grow, laugh at her silly faces and cuddle her as she sleeps. I am blessed to say that at 18 months we are still nursing. I am the only one who can still put her down for bed or nap. She finds comfort wrapped up in me and that is my privilege, as I am her mama. I am there when she falls down, a hand to help her back to her feet, I sing Frozen songs on repeat with her all throughout the day, I give bubble baths and comb her hair. I get to read her books, and watch her play.
I am Katie's mom.

She first called me mama & now I am mommy.
I love her with all my heart and soul.

I heard the sweetest thing the other day.
"You are the perfect mom for your child."
I loved it.
Sometimes as a mom you can feel like you are failing, falling short and just plain tired. You can feel like the best mom one minute and the next you're in tears because you feel like a bad mom. But you know what, even with our short comings, You are the best mom to raise your babies. Period.
God gave them specifically to us for a reason.
Katie is mine for a reason.
& I am so glad she is mine.
forever and always.

This mothers day, I spent in the joy of my sweet, sweet daughter.
Katie is 18 months now (I will do a recap on that soon) and I am just seeing her blossom before my eyes.
This weekend my lovely husband surely did bless me.
On Saturday,
Troy took me to Chipolte for lunch, and then I was headed off for an hour of relaxation.
I got a deluxe mani, pedi and it was pure bliss!
I enjoyed every bit of it and my nails look pretty cute to show for it.

For dinner we went to Outback Steakhouse with my In laws and Troy and Katie gave me the best picture I could have dreamed of. I was blown away.
A little back story on this photo. Troy made a huge poster/photo just like this that just says "I love you" and it hangs above our headboard. It has been there since the day of our wedding. My husband made it for me and it is so unique and perfect. So, for Katie to help daddy make mommy one was an all time special gift. Just perfect.

(Grammy, Katie & I)

Then on Sunday I was able to speak a little during the church service about the word Empathy. We did a talk on the word MOTHER
and E stood for empathy. (more on that later)
Afterwards we headed to my grandmothers for a lovely lunch to celebrate all of us mama's and it happens to be my grandmas birthday today. She was blessed with tons of kisses from grand kids and great grandies. It was a beautiful afternoon.

Just who she is, is the best mothers day present every day.

Throwback to last Mothers Day.
Katie was 6 months old and it was sunny!

This year she is 18 months and it snowed 6 inches! in May!
esh.

I love you Katie Annabelle

Because I missed last weeks Funny Friday, lets make this

I enjoyed this.

I hope you all had a great laugh at at least one of these bad boys.

I promise it is the best to find these when im lying in bed about to call it a night.
I probably laugh 100 times harder then if it was mid-day.

It's Good Friday guys, so make sure
you also reflect on our awesome God who saved us.
Thank you Lord for blessing us with humor and being able to brighten our days with laugher and joy.

1Timothy

This is the book I have been feeling God calling me to read as of lately and I am greatly enjoying it. I can not stress enough how important I feel it is to be spending quite time with the Lord every day. For some of you it may be easiest in the mornings, others at night. For me, I would have to say night time is easiest though lately I do it during Katies nap time. I always find myself refreshed and ready to face the next hour of my day. haha.
I want to share with you guys the prayer I had on my heart this morning.
It truly was what I need & I felt like God provided.
So, other women ( mamas or not) here ya go

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for today. Help me to find beauty in this day.
Give me the strength I need to get through the challenges that this day may bring forth.
Help me to have the grace and patience that today will require. Flood me with your calmness and
gentle spirit. I pray Lord that when I talk people would hear you and not me. Let it be your words on my lips.
Help me to be a good mother to my child. Help me be a good wife to my husband.
Show me what this means in the plans you have set for my life.
I give today to you.
Thank you for being by my side.
Amen.

Do you have quiet time with the Lord?
How's it going?
Any awesome devotion books I should know about?
leave a comment and let me know.
& as always, Happy Happy Hump day y'all.

This babe fell asleep on daddy last night.
Look at the cuteness.

P.S
Today is Troys birthday and I am beyond excited for a dinner out tonight.
I'm also super stoked because last year Katie was only 5 months old on his birthday and now at 17 almost 18 months she will be greeting her daddy with a big "hap-eee bur-day!"
;)

Weekend Recap: More birthday fun

I know, I know, I know.
I didn't post a Funny Friday last week.
Esh!
But, I will be bringing double the trouble (of funny that is) this Friday.

This weekend I had a nice little birthday party planned for Troy.
We went out for breakfast to the Crackle Barrel first thing Saturday morning, and then I sent him off to go Golfing.
He and a few buddies went to Fossil Trace Golf Course in Golden, CO.
It is a beautiful place. They did all 18 holes are finished up around 4pm.

During this time, Katie and I went on a little mommy daughter lunch date to our favorite place.
Chick-fil-a of course. ;)

Then we went to DQ and bought a delicious looking ice cream cake, and ran home to put it in the freezer ASAP.
You wouldn't believe me if I said on Saturday It was 70 degrees and then now, Sunday, It has been a high of 30 all day and snowing. Boo, no fun.
Katie and I then ventured to the party store to pick up some balloons to make the party snazzy! lol.
We had the get together with some friends and family at an amazing Pizzeria.
We spent about 3 hours or so just eating some deliciously good pizza and the DQ cake.
look at this delicious beauty.

I was so glad that I  could bless my man with a nice day & a nice evening.
He deserves it.
Don't be surprised to hear about more birthday fun, this Wednesday is Troy's actual birthday and I am taking him out for a yummy meal, and then the following Wednesday, he is going to the

Switchfoot concert!!!
Y'all, Switchfoot is a big name in this house.
They sing our life basically. lol

More pictures of our beautiful weekend.

If you follow me on instagram, you know I got some yummy goodness this weekend.

A red ball is serious fun!

How was your weekend?

When's the last time you...

Shared the Gospel?
Is that question
too personal? I really don't mean it to be but, it is an important one to ask.
And trust me, I am asking myself. A lot.
In my last post I talked about being at my grandmothers house for a birthday party. My great grandmother who is 92! lives there as well.  Backtracking to a few weeks ago, I remember thinking "I wonder if my great grandma knows about Jesus." I must have forgotten about that thought, totally the Holy Spirit speaking to me, and I moved on with my day. Well, Saturday night before I fell asleep I found myself thinking again, "Does great grandma know about Jesus?" I didn't know but I knew I should find out. So fast forwarding to 5pm on Sunday I was saying goodbye to my GG.
I was standing there feeling the Holy Spirit telling me to talk to her about Him. And guess what guys... I froze. It seemed like once I wanted to talk to her alone everyone in that house was crowding around us. And before I knew it I found myself walking out the door and driving down the road.
Later that night I was talking to Troy about it and he said he knew I wanted to talk to her about Jesus. Say wha?
Yep,  he told me he could tell by how I was looking at her, that my face  said " I'm not sure when or if I will be seeing you again." I continued to tell him about the calling I felt God putting on my heart and how yet again, today I did nothing. He encouraged me to call her the next morning. Well, I finally was able to on Tuesday and 100% glory to God He gave me the strength to talk to her. Once again I could feel his presence in the situation. My grandmother called me at 12pm to talk to me about the numerous things we left at their house. I knew this was my opportunity. So, I told her to put my GG on the phone.
My GG is starting to struggle with Alzheimer's and Dementia. While this is extremely sad, Troy reassured me that during the time I was talking to her about Jesus, God would allow her mind to be clear and process what I was saying.
I said "Do you know who Jesus is?"
and...
She said "Oh yes, and I hope he knows me too."
Guys I was so happy to hear those words come from the mouth of my great grandmother who is 92 years of age!
We talked about heaven for a moment and then she started encouraging me and thanking me for asking her.
I was so blessed by the conversation.

You know, as a christian the most important thing we can do is tell people about Jesus.
It really is dealing with Life or Death.
Eternal Life and Death.

So, If any one stumbles across my blog and wonders what is this whole Christianity thing,
allow me to have the honor of explaining.

It is a relationship with Jesus.
& this is why.

God created us to be with him.
As one. hand in hand.
But,  sadly we sinned. humankind sinned.
That seperated us from the perfect God.
That sin, cannot be removed by good deeds.
We can't work our way back to Him.
God knew this.
So he sent his Son Jesus Christ.
& Jesus payed the eternal price for our sins by dying on the cross for us.
Jesus rose from the grave 3 days later.

He is alive today and seated on His throne in heaven.
He offers us eternal life.
Eternal life means being in heaven with God forever and ever.
Life that is eternal because we are eternal beings.
& if you except that Jesus died for you and ask him to come into your heart and be your savior and forgive you for your sins.
He will.
& it is done.
=)

I encourage you to not stop there, but to continue to live your life for him.
Spend time in prayer.
All prayer is, is communication with God.
& Go out, buy a bible or find one somewhere and read.
The bible is the word of God that he has given to us.

If you have any questions about Christianity or
Any awesome praise reports about a time God used you to tell someone about him,
message me or leave a comment below.

Have a beautiful Wednesday.
We are enjoying weather in the 70's over here!

Weekend Recap: Baseball, birthdays and late nights

This weekend seemed to fly by so quickly.
The highlight of our entire Saturday was going to the schools Baseball game. Katie had so much fun watching the batters. One of the parents brought their extremely friendly golden retriever and Katie was OBSESSED.
Here's a picture I was able to snap of Troy and Katie at the field.

On Sunday we had a relaxing morning at church and then we were out the door on our way to my grandmothers house.
We had a joined birthday party for my sister (Jennie) and Troy. The afternoon was filled with laughter and love. It is so nice to see all my family. Troy and I live about 30 minutes away from everyone so it doesn't happen that often. Katie ran out of energy around 3pm, she was lacking on the sleep side of things. She took one nap at the end of Church and that was it. So we called it quits around 5pm and headed back home.
Katie slept on the drive home, phew, and we quickly ran inside, grabbed our bunny (Budee) and headed back out to go to our friends house. We are involved in running the Youth group at our church with them. So we had a nice meeting and then we were just able to hang out and watch our kids play. We ordered Chinese food at like 9pm (no joke) and stayed until 11! I truly believe we are crazy for keeping a 17 month old out so late. I mean seriously, she is used to going to bed around 8:30.
Anyways, we finally were in bed and asleep by 11:30 and the Monday sunshine was peeking through the window in a matter of minutes it seemed.

How was your weekend?

Funny Friday

It's Friday guys!
You know what that means, time to laugh!
& get ready for weekend activities.

Haha, this one is too funny. & once again, if you guys haven't seen the Lego movie yet, you totally should.

so true right?

Haha, this one explains itself. (literally)

Did you enjoy a good laugh?
Any gut busters?
Trust me, when I go through these at 11pm, I am crying with laughter at every one of them.
lol.
I hope you all are off to have one fantastic weekend!
I am patiently waiting as these Colorado days heat up more and more.
Slowly but surely.
I'm thinking a good pool visit will be in our weekend agenda.
What's on your list?

4/2/14

Has this ever happened to you?

Have you ever experienced a random act of kindness from a complete stranger?  Something that just put a smile on your face for the rest of the day.
I have encountered a few pleasant people at restaurants who have given me a drink for free and lately it seems that people are really into giving Katie free things. A few weeks ago we were out at lunch when the gentleman who owned this restaurant decided he wanted to give Katie a free cookie of her choice,  a huge sticker and a fake tattoo.  We put the tattoo on her arm before we left and they snapped a few pictures of her cuteness.
She is by far the cutest advertising I have ever seen. Lol.

All that being said, the other day I was driving home and decided while Katie was asleep in the back,  I would sneek by the Starbucks drive thru. Randomly, as I was driving I thought "I should pay for the person behind me." Well, now I'm like "Ok God, was that from you? Should I pay for whoever drives up behind me?" I decided I would. Plus it was April fools day and so I figured it would be nice to surprise someone with something happy and when the employee says "that woman payed for your drink" they would think, " yeah right,  April fools." But no, really I did.  Lol -in hopes that it would totally make their day.
Any who,  as I was pulling into the drive thru I noticed that their intercom was broken and you had to order, pay and receive your drinks all through the same window. There was no way I could really pay for the person behind me. So, I figured ok Lord,  next time.  (Heads up for anyone who wants to be behind me next time I head to Starbucks. Lol.)

I was unable to spread some stranger kindness yesterday but I look forward to doing it soon.
I really enjoy it when people you don't know or wouldn't necessarily expect to be kind and generous, are exactly that.
Let me know if you have ever done a random act of kindness for someone or if they have for you.
How did it change your outlook on the day?

=)

Enjoy some of my babes beauty.
These are from different days obvi (look at the shirts)
but none the less, she looks fabulous.

She fell asleep with her head still in the upright position.
Too cute.
(yes, she that is a balloon string, she loves her balloons and one must always travel with us.)

Happy happy hump day!

Weekend Recap: Saying goodbye to Spring break

Goodbye Spring break and hello again to the days of Mommy and baby awaiting the hour of daddy getting home from a long days work. Troy headed back to work this morning and he will be dearly missed by his girls.
On the bright side, excluding the fact that he had a cold most of the week, we had some fun times.
Allow me to share a few.

1) We went to an awesome pizzia place called Richie B's (we went again for lunch on Sunday)
2) Took Katie swimming (I took her once alone while Troy went golfing) and she is in love with the water. You should see how she kicks her little legs and tries to go faster and faster. Totally makes this mama grin from ear to ear.
3) Troy was able to go golfing, which is really nice for him. He enjoys it so much & it helps him relax.
4) We enjoyed crazy amounts of park time and coloring with chalk and blowing bubbles.
5) Katie got a new swing in the backyard so when it it starts to warm up she can swing the night away.
6) I embraced Chick-fil-A several times. ;)
7) My handsome hubs and I went on a date to the Olive Garden on Friday night which was incredible! I got the call from Grandma Kathy right around the time we ordered dessert that Katie was more then ready to have us back home. So, we packed up our  goodies and headed back.  It was the perfect conclusion to a week of fun, even if Troy had the sniffles most of the time. I seriously adore that man for feeling like poo somedays and still being the rockin father he is to our little girl. It makes sense why she loves him so much.
All in all this Spring break was awesome but I say next year, we try, gee...idk. San Diego. ;)

Happy Monday
I hope you guys are kicking your week off right!

Funny Friday

For this funny Friday I want to talk about some movie's that make me crack up!
Let me know if you laugh at any of these movies too.

Baby Mama y'all.
I don't know if I ever stop laughing during this one.

Wreck-It Ralph.
This is such a cute and funny Disney movie. The first one Katie fell in love with, so it hold a special place with me.
(You totally have to watch for the puns in this one)

Mall Cop.
I am a sucker for most Kevin James movies.
King of Queens anyone?

What movies make you Lol?
Comment below and let me know.

Woohoo it is Friday guys!!

3/26/14

Make your mark on the world

Can I be real with you guys?
Lets just get real for a moment ok. So earlier this week I was able to watch the film 12 Years a Slave and even begin to read the book. I seriously recommend watching it. There are times where I would condone looking away (nudity is involved) but other than that, watch it. Because it is a true story. Somebody's life on the screen, and a truly heart retching film. While watching this movie and afterwards I was flooded with so many emotions and thoughts as I assume most would be, I mean seriously how could you not? How could you not see all this injustice and feel heartbreak? feel compassion? to feel broken, but empowered to make your mark on the world. For those of you who don't know, I am a Christian. My family is Christian. So when I say "make a mark on the world" I mean ultimately for Jesus Christ. I have been asking myself, how can I change this world for the better until His return? I feel like he answers me more and more daily. Every circumstance is different. It changes with what the day to day brings.
One thing that has been placed on my heart is to show kindness to others. This is huge for me. I think becoming a mother has amplified this in me x100. I desperately want to teach Katie and any future children of mine to be kindhearted. To not be a voice of condemnation or hurt to others. Now, I do want my children to be equipped with the knowledge of good and evil, and to speak out against sin. But I want them, and will teach them, to do so in love and patience.
The best way to teach our kiddo's that is by example right? So I want to exude patience and a gentle heart to those around me. God is teaching me how to this on the regular. & believe it or not I already see the same kind of heart in my sweet (almost) 17 month old daughter. Katie will give anyone a smile and a cheesy hello, along with a bat or two of her glittery blue eyes. I have watched her bring joy to so many people and lots of them are complete and utter strangers, to both  her and I. I love that she is so sweet and kind, even when I have watched people ignore her and her love. I have seen women glance at her and simply pass on by. My sweet Katie continues to say "Hi!" as they pass and then keeps on her marry little way. I love my daughter.
Sometimes I think she is more of an example to me than I am to her. ;)
Funny how that works.
Anyways, as of late Troy and I have started to re-read the book of Job together and I am really enjoying it. I would recommend doing a bible study with your spouse. It is a great way to draw closer together as 1 and also closer to God.
So go ahead and be challenged to make your mark on the world. Day by day, whatever you feel it is God has for you to share. Remember Matthew 5:14,
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden"

On a quick side note, we made it to the pool yesterday.
My babe is a mermaid in the making

Post swim picture with some snack on the chin.
Keepin it toddler classy.

Happy Hump Day!

3/24/14

Weekend Recap: Seriously cold?

This weekend went nothing like I imagined it would. I'm sure it went nothing like Troy imagined either and it was utterly miserable. My sweet hubby came home late Thursday night with a dreaded end-of-winter cold and it has been hanging on ever since. So with that being said this weekend hasn't amounted to much. None of the fun little activities we had previously planned took place and much of the time was spent indoors.
I would have to say the highlight of our weekend was watching Frozen a billion times.
No joke, Katie wants "let it go" on the TV at all times day and night. I simply have no problem with that because I can't help but sing along and move to the groove.

Have y'all heard that Frozen has brought in almost 1Billion dollars?!
We attributed to that.

I believe I can recall Troy telling me I have watched it way to much when I was happily singing all the words to "Love is an open door!!!" haha.
Anna is totally my favorite.

Oh! And bonus,

I locked my keys in my car for like the 3rd time in 2 years. (maybe that's good?)
So approximately an hour of our Sunday was dedicated to unlocking my car so we could go stuff our faces with Chipolte. We did & it was delicious.
Now it's time for my guy to feel better! I want to go to the pool tomorrow.
Unlike Elsa and "the cold never bothered me anyway",
Troys cold is now bothering us.

;)

3/21/14

Funny Friday

Lets get straight to the laughter today

Am I a terrible person for laughing uncontrollably at this? Ha!

Oh this one got me!

& While I am certainly not condoning every episode, this show  gets me to bust out laughing most times!

Scorpion!

I also totally miss watching this with my brother.
I think this may have to be our next double date idea.

I hope some of these goodies made you LOL.
Happy Friday.

3/19/14

Patience

You know what patience is right?
It's that giant characteristic that you, maybe just me,  always wish you had more of and find your self constantly telling others around you or our own children to have.
"be patient"
I know I say this multiple times a day to myself and Katie if I'm being honest. & I for one am learning this patience thing daily. Good times and bad.
We have a lot going on over here in the Boyer household that is requiring some good o'l patience. Waiting for God to move and not forcing His hand on anything against His will for us. While this is something I undoubtedly want, it can be extremely hard sometimes. Without getting into much detail Troy and I have a few huge milestones in our marriage approaching (sooner then later I pray) and some days I find myself totally good with where we're at right now and then some days I just wish we were like 10 years down the road. lol.
Anyhow, I need some extra patience and I will most likely bet that you do too.
So, Let us ask for it yeah?

Dear Jesus, You can see and hear everything I do throughout my day. Please give me the patience I need to deal with matters of today and strength for tomorrow. Help me to enjoy the little things today and rejoice with what you have given me. I need your patience to deal with future circumstances and I trust fully that you will provide.
Amen.

Prayer

Thanks for praying with me & now, how can I pray for you this week?
Feel free to leave a comment below or message me.

Who else is beyond happy that today is Wednesday?
I think I can sense a Friday approaching.
& guess what guys? One thing super nice about being married to a teacher is
SPRING BREAK! oh yeah baby!
My man has next week off and I don't think Katie will even know how to handle having daddy around for a whole week 24/7

3/17/14

Weekend Recap: Please don't take my sunshine away ;)

You know that song "You are my sunshine my only sunshine,  you make me happy when skies are grey..." Well funny thing,  my mom used to sing that to me as a little girl 24/7 and I loved it. Well Katie hates it. Haha.
She seriously starts to fuss anytime I start to belt out those words. I wonder why.
Anyways we are singing it today because I really don't want this spring time sunshine to disappear.
Our weekend went a little something like this,

I took Katie to the Ice skating rink to watch the cool hockey players skate around and play but to our dismay no one was really around that afternoon. So, I took her to the lake instead. I think she enjoyed it.

Friday night Troy took Katie on a Daddy Daughter date. This was so perfect for them since Troy has been gone on the weekends so much these past few months. They hit up a soccer store to grab Katie her very 1st soccer ball! I think she's in love.  & then they kicked it around a park for a good hour. Alas, they headed back home to bring mommy some dinner and call it a night. Those two melt my heart.

This girl seriously loves her daddy. So future knights in shining armor, watch out. lol
Saturday morning we jump started the day with a good old fashioned pancake, bacon and eggs breakfast. Yummy in our tummy's y'all.  After a quick nap for the babe we set off to enjoy some lunch and run around the Mall where we ended up buying nothing but having a good time just window shopping. It was nice to be out of the house.

Sunday was so stinkin fun!
After church and nap time (btw, during nap time Troy totally went and got us some Starbucks which was delicious!)
we headed to the park in the brand new Smart Trike that Troys sister bought for Katie. Oh my, this child had so much fun it was crazy. I'm sure she will insist on biking everywhere now.
We were headed for some fun in the sun. & while I wish that was on a beach somewhere, San Diego, a park in Colorado will have to do instead. ;)

See that super cute "yawkie" ball coming with us?

You have to give the man some credit because I totally just grabbed him and snapped the picture.
ninja wife style.

look at how her hair is flicking over her forehead. lol
bed hair don't care.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

3/14/14

Funny Friday

I am elated that today is Friday!
Whoop Whoop
Now, lets take a moment to laugh!

Seriously though, or is this just me?

Haha, I am so privileged to say that I have done this. =)
& whoever that person was has never text me since. lol
Sorry random stranger, whoever you are.

Now this just cracks me up.

Who else is so excited that next Thursday is the first day of Spring?!
We are! But who am I kidding, I live In CO where it could snow mid May and no one would be surprised. Lol

For more funnies, follow me on Pinterest. Link is in the sidebar.
Happy Friday friends.
Have a beautiful weekend
