Weekend Recap: Saying goodbye to Spring break

Goodbye Spring break and hello again to the days of Mommy and baby awaiting the hour of daddy getting home from a long days work. Troy headed back to work this morning and he will be dearly missed by his girls.
On the bright side, excluding the fact that he had a cold most of the week, we had some fun times.
Allow me to share a few.

1) We went to an awesome pizzia place called Richie B's (we went again for lunch on Sunday)
2) Took Katie swimming (I took her once alone while Troy went golfing) and she is in love with the water. You should see how she kicks her little legs and tries to go faster and faster. Totally makes this mama grin from ear to ear.
3) Troy was able to go golfing, which is really nice for him. He enjoys it so much & it helps him relax.
4) We enjoyed crazy amounts of park time and coloring with chalk and blowing bubbles.
5) Katie got a new swing in the backyard so when it it starts to warm up she can swing the night away.
6) I embraced Chick-fil-A several times. ;)
7) My handsome hubs and I went on a date to the Olive Garden on Friday night which was incredible! I got the call from Grandma Kathy right around the time we ordered dessert that Katie was more then ready to have us back home. So, we packed up our  goodies and headed back.  It was the perfect conclusion to a week of fun, even if Troy had the sniffles most of the time. I seriously adore that man for feeling like poo somedays and still being the rockin father he is to our little girl. It makes sense why she loves him so much.
All in all this Spring break was awesome but I say next year, we try, gee...idk. San Diego. ;)

Happy Monday
I hope you guys are kicking your week off right!

Funny Friday

For this funny Friday I want to talk about some movie's that make me crack up!
Let me know if you laugh at any of these movies too.

Baby Mama y'all.
I don't know if I ever stop laughing during this one.

Wreck-It Ralph.
This is such a cute and funny Disney movie. The first one Katie fell in love with, so it hold a special place with me.
(You totally have to watch for the puns in this one)

Mall Cop.
I am a sucker for most Kevin James movies.
King of Queens anyone?

What movies make you Lol?
Comment below and let me know.

Woohoo it is Friday guys!!

Make your mark on the world

Can I be real with you guys?
Lets just get real for a moment ok. So earlier this week I was able to watch the film 12 Years a Slave and even begin to read the book. I seriously recommend watching it. There are times where I would condone looking away (nudity is involved) but other than that, watch it. Because it is a true story. Somebody's life on the screen, and a truly heart retching film. While watching this movie and afterwards I was flooded with so many emotions and thoughts as I assume most would be, I mean seriously how could you not? How could you not see all this injustice and feel heartbreak? feel compassion? to feel broken, but empowered to make your mark on the world. For those of you who don't know, I am a Christian. My family is Christian. So when I say "make a mark on the world" I mean ultimately for Jesus Christ. I have been asking myself, how can I change this world for the better until His return? I feel like he answers me more and more daily. Every circumstance is different. It changes with what the day to day brings.
One thing that has been placed on my heart is to show kindness to others. This is huge for me. I think becoming a mother has amplified this in me x100. I desperately want to teach Katie and any future children of mine to be kindhearted. To not be a voice of condemnation or hurt to others. Now, I do want my children to be equipped with the knowledge of good and evil, and to speak out against sin. But I want them, and will teach them, to do so in love and patience.
The best way to teach our kiddo's that is by example right? So I want to exude patience and a gentle heart to those around me. God is teaching me how to this on the regular. & believe it or not I already see the same kind of heart in my sweet (almost) 17 month old daughter. Katie will give anyone a smile and a cheesy hello, along with a bat or two of her glittery blue eyes. I have watched her bring joy to so many people and lots of them are complete and utter strangers, to both  her and I. I love that she is so sweet and kind, even when I have watched people ignore her and her love. I have seen women glance at her and simply pass on by. My sweet Katie continues to say "Hi!" as they pass and then keeps on her marry little way. I love my daughter.
Sometimes I think she is more of an example to me than I am to her. ;)
Funny how that works.
Anyways, as of late Troy and I have started to re-read the book of Job together and I am really enjoying it. I would recommend doing a bible study with your spouse. It is a great way to draw closer together as 1 and also closer to God.
So go ahead and be challenged to make your mark on the world. Day by day, whatever you feel it is God has for you to share. Remember Matthew 5:14,
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden"

On a quick side note, we made it to the pool yesterday.
My babe is a mermaid in the making

Post swim picture with some snack on the chin.
Keepin it toddler classy.

Happy Hump Day!

Weekend Recap: Seriously cold?

This weekend went nothing like I imagined it would. I'm sure it went nothing like Troy imagined either and it was utterly miserable. My sweet hubby came home late Thursday night with a dreaded end-of-winter cold and it has been hanging on ever since. So with that being said this weekend hasn't amounted to much. None of the fun little activities we had previously planned took place and much of the time was spent indoors.
I would have to say the highlight of our weekend was watching Frozen a billion times.
No joke, Katie wants "let it go" on the TV at all times day and night. I simply have no problem with that because I can't help but sing along and move to the groove.

Have y'all heard that Frozen has brought in almost 1Billion dollars?!
We attributed to that.

I believe I can recall Troy telling me I have watched it way to much when I was happily singing all the words to "Love is an open door!!!" haha.
Anna is totally my favorite.

Oh! And bonus,

I locked my keys in my car for like the 3rd time in 2 years. (maybe that's good?)
So approximately an hour of our Sunday was dedicated to unlocking my car so we could go stuff our faces with Chipolte. We did & it was delicious.
Now it's time for my guy to feel better! I want to go to the pool tomorrow.
Unlike Elsa and "the cold never bothered me anyway",
Troys cold is now bothering us.

;)

Funny Friday

Lets get straight to the laughter today

Am I a terrible person for laughing uncontrollably at this? Ha!

Oh this one got me!

& While I am certainly not condoning every episode, this show  gets me to bust out laughing most times!

Scorpion!

I also totally miss watching this with my brother.
I think this may have to be our next double date idea.

I hope some of these goodies made you LOL.
Happy Friday.

3/19/14

Patience

You know what patience is right?
It's that giant characteristic that you, maybe just me,  always wish you had more of and find your self constantly telling others around you or our own children to have.
"be patient"
I know I say this multiple times a day to myself and Katie if I'm being honest. & I for one am learning this patience thing daily. Good times and bad.
We have a lot going on over here in the Boyer household that is requiring some good o'l patience. Waiting for God to move and not forcing His hand on anything against His will for us. While this is something I undoubtedly want, it can be extremely hard sometimes. Without getting into much detail Troy and I have a few huge milestones in our marriage approaching (sooner then later I pray) and some days I find myself totally good with where we're at right now and then some days I just wish we were like 10 years down the road. lol.
Anyhow, I need some extra patience and I will most likely bet that you do too.
So, Let us ask for it yeah?

Dear Jesus, You can see and hear everything I do throughout my day. Please give me the patience I need to deal with matters of today and strength for tomorrow. Help me to enjoy the little things today and rejoice with what you have given me. I need your patience to deal with future circumstances and I trust fully that you will provide.
Amen.

Prayer

Thanks for praying with me & now, how can I pray for you this week?
Feel free to leave a comment below or message me.

Who else is beyond happy that today is Wednesday?
I think I can sense a Friday approaching.
& guess what guys? One thing super nice about being married to a teacher is
SPRING BREAK! oh yeah baby!
My man has next week off and I don't think Katie will even know how to handle having daddy around for a whole week 24/7

3/17/14

Weekend Recap: Please don't take my sunshine away ;)

You know that song "You are my sunshine my only sunshine,  you make me happy when skies are grey..." Well funny thing,  my mom used to sing that to me as a little girl 24/7 and I loved it. Well Katie hates it. Haha.
She seriously starts to fuss anytime I start to belt out those words. I wonder why.
Anyways we are singing it today because I really don't want this spring time sunshine to disappear.
Our weekend went a little something like this,

I took Katie to the Ice skating rink to watch the cool hockey players skate around and play but to our dismay no one was really around that afternoon. So, I took her to the lake instead. I think she enjoyed it.

Friday night Troy took Katie on a Daddy Daughter date. This was so perfect for them since Troy has been gone on the weekends so much these past few months. They hit up a soccer store to grab Katie her very 1st soccer ball! I think she's in love.  & then they kicked it around a park for a good hour. Alas, they headed back home to bring mommy some dinner and call it a night. Those two melt my heart.

This girl seriously loves her daddy. So future knights in shining armor, watch out. lol
Saturday morning we jump started the day with a good old fashioned pancake, bacon and eggs breakfast. Yummy in our tummy's y'all.  After a quick nap for the babe we set off to enjoy some lunch and run around the Mall where we ended up buying nothing but having a good time just window shopping. It was nice to be out of the house.

Sunday was so stinkin fun!
After church and nap time (btw, during nap time Troy totally went and got us some Starbucks which was delicious!)
we headed to the park in the brand new Smart Trike that Troys sister bought for Katie. Oh my, this child had so much fun it was crazy. I'm sure she will insist on biking everywhere now.
We were headed for some fun in the sun. & while I wish that was on a beach somewhere, San Diego, a park in Colorado will have to do instead. ;)

See that super cute "yawkie" ball coming with us?

You have to give the man some credit because I totally just grabbed him and snapped the picture.
ninja wife style.

look at how her hair is flicking over her forehead. lol
bed hair don't care.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Funny Friday

I am elated that today is Friday!
Whoop Whoop
Now, lets take a moment to laugh!

Seriously though, or is this just me?

Haha, I am so privileged to say that I have done this. =)
& whoever that person was has never text me since. lol
Sorry random stranger, whoever you are.

Now this just cracks me up.

Who else is so excited that next Thursday is the first day of Spring?!
We are! But who am I kidding, I live In CO where it could snow mid May and no one would be surprised. Lol

Happy Friday friends.
Have a beautiful weekend

3/12/14

learning not to worry

As a mom I find myself worrying a lot more than I used to, and I'm sure you other mama's out there can relate. I never want my child to deal with heartbreak, physical pain, emotional trials or anything else. I want her to be happy all her days. Now, if I am being realistic I know that will never happen. I know that in this world I have experienced difficulties and Katie will too. All I can do is be the best mommy she needs and pray every single day that I can somehow meet those demands.
Being a good mommy to her is very important to me.
Jesus
is revealing to me more and more that I don't need to spend my time stressing over what may be or what could be and instead focus on the now, what is and what I can do in the future. Any worries or stress I find piling up on me, He is more then willing to take. He already offered.
Matthew 11:28-30
He promised to give us rest.
I find peace in that because I know how stressed I can become when I start to think about the future and not daydream. Life can be rough and tough sometimes but it can be absolutely beautiful too. From one mom to another, when you find yourself worrying about tomorrow stop and pray. Pray to have clarity of thought, be diligent in your plan making and patience to deal with what's ahead and then give the rest to Him.
And He will give us rest in return.

best snuggles ever
Update
I am still being pruned daily but I can say proudly that I am not having as many selfish, rude thoughts as I had been in the past. Jesus is teaching me more every day on how to be grateful and kind hearted. It excites me because I know I can help teach these things to Katie better when He is teaching me. =)
If you missed my last post about what was new between God and I read about it here.

Prayer
Once again, How can I pray for you this week?
Comment or feel free to email me.

High five, we've made it to Wednesday!

Weekend Recap: Sweet freedom!

This weekend started off pretty crazy. Friday night in and of itself was a disaster, anything and everything was unorganized and chaotic. It was a late night and just didn't go according to plan. So, we wont even open that can of worms, but one thing I will say about Friday night happened around 2am. So, while some of you may call us crazy we indeed still co sleep with out 16month old! Ahhhh! We're nuttso! Got it, moving on. Anyways, it was around 2am and Troy woke me up by saying "Megan, Megan, what is she doing?" my eyes pop open to find Katie just sitting straight up in the middle of the bed. I didn't know if anything wrong was really happening so I just grabbed her and laid back down. She was completely out. Like fully asleep and had been this entire time. Troy proceeded to tell me that she was crawling over his back and that he only woke up because he finally realized Katie was up to something, and it was not normal. So, all that that to say, if Troy hadn't have woken up we could have possibly woken up to a crying baby just laying on the floor. She could have been perfectly fine or she could have been hurt. Either way I wouldn't have been to thrilled and I doubt she would be either.  Now we venture into how to get Katie to start sleeping in a crib or make some way that she cant escape our bed. Plus lots of other things factor into this but, that's for another post. On toward Saturday!

Saturday
My Sister-in-law and her family came up for a weekend visit to run some errands and let cousins be cousins! My niece is 6 years old so she is all about helping with the "baby" and being the biggest cousin around. Katie had a blast playing with Lily and we were able to gather everyone excluding daddy to go out for a Target run. I was dying to get Katie some new shirts for Spring and they had the cutest ones on sale. I had to snatch em up!  After an hour of letting the girls run around the store Katie and I headed back home to put her down for a nap. After she woke up we spent a few minutes at the park only for the sky to grow dark and the sunshine to disappear.  We hit up a local BBQ spot for dinner with the grandparents and then plowed into bed around 10!
You  may be wondering where dad was this whole time right?  Well, that's where the title sweet freedom comes in play. Troy was gone doing work all day Saturday until 9pm. I am so thrilled to say it will be the last Saturday in awhile that he had to be gone. I was starting to miss him so much on the weekends and Katie Belle was too. She is so fond of her
 "dat-ee". =)

(Losing an hour of sleep, really?)
Sunday
Church went great and Katie did an excellent job.  Lily came to help out in the nursery and to play with Katie. I think Troy and I had more fun with all the toys and gadgets then the kids did. ;) true parents huh.
A  family friends mother had her 91st! Surprise birthday party at CB & Potts and we slammed some food and played pool and shuffleboard to celebrate. It was a grand time and Katie had lots of little friends to play with.
(Cousin Lily went home.) Later we strolled on over to this huge park that is pretty close by and let Katie run free with a soccer ball.  Troy has started coaching again this season so Katie is getting a good taste of what "yawkie" is like. Ok side note, she calls socks "yawkies" because I have been calling them sockies. So you know, Soccer would make sense to be "yawkie" no? Look at how much fun she had.

How was your weekend?

Funny Friday

Who is ready for a nice, good laugh?
Here we go!

I am a sucker for some
dry, stupid-funny humor. Ecards, jokes, movies you name it.
Troy took me to see the Lego movie on Valentines day and it was knee slapping funny! You guys have to go see it and make sure you keep an ear out for those hidden jokes and giggles =)
Dry humor her we come!

These are all from Pinterest, feel free to follow me there at Megan Boyer.
As part of this Funny Friday category I want to add in some real life humor from my week.
Sharing something humorous that has happened around me personally.
To be honest, I can't think of anything hugely funny that has happened this week besides a few cute funny moments with my girl.
They may make you giggle but I hope they at least make you smile like they did me.

So, yesterday after Katie had woken up from her afternoon nap (she didn't know I was standing at the foot of the bed) she proceeded to stretch and talk to herself calmly.
"Yeah.....(yawn)...yeah"
I popped my head up so she could see me and said "yeah!"
She stares straight at me and says "No".
Haha, it made my day.

This girl is my world.
She turned 16 months old on Wednesday.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend filled with fun and laughter.
See y'all on Monday.

The bearing of fruit and pruning of branches

John 15:2
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,
while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

Pruning of Branches...
During these last two weeks I have felt God nudging my heart.
Picking and pruning and leaving me with some serious thoughts to ponder.
If I am being honest, lately I find myself falling into this funk of an attitude. It's not that I'm being mean, rude, obnoxious or anything else... out loud anyways.
That's right, more times then not these rude comments are in my head.
Now, these thoughts are nothing to the extreme but...they are extreme to God and I know they are not of me, nor who I am in Christ.
Silly thoughts like "why do I have to..." or "maybe if you'd just..."
Selfishness...
I know.
God has been showing me though that when these thoughts are merely in my head they are soon to creep into my heart and spirit, they may even start slipping off my tongue.
I don't want any of that.
& that is where bearing fruit comes into play.

Bearing Fruit

Thank you Jesus! That you are always with us and working on us to help us grow.
I mean are we blessed or what?
This past Sunday at Church I was graced with being able to hear my Bishop of the IPHC, which my Church falls under, give a sermon about the

 Holy Spirit.
He asked the congregation a question that rocked my socks off.
"Who is the most important person in the world?" he asked us.
He explained how some people he asked on other occasions would say George Clooney, or Jesus! You're in Church, Jesus is always the right answer right?
Nope.
NOT Jesus folks..
Dun.Dun.Dun.
Want to know why?
Answer: Jesus is no longer on the earth!
He left us the Holy Spirit to guide and be with us until His return.
How stinking cool is that.

I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit and how he be a gentle whisper to our spirit and say "Hey,I love you. Check your heart, be calm in my presence and I will guide you." Just like the verse Psalms 46:10.
Amen to that.
I feel those branches falling off and while day to day it can be hard in certain situations to stay calm, cool and collected I know I can because of Him who gives me strength.
Pruning can be hard but I want to bear fruit for Him and His glory so it is well worth it. When I find myself being tempted to think or say something in my thoughts that I know is wrong I stop and Pray. It has been helping me a lot more than trying to take a deep breath and count to 10. One thing that is super cool about God, He knows when I am going to come to him frustrated at someone or something and he already has the extra grace I need. I just need to be ready to receive it.
He never fails us.
I will keep you updated on this pruning job.
I should be sprouting new branches every day.
=)

Prayer

Something I desperately want to offer my readers is someone to pray for them so, please leave a comment or email me with what I can be praying for this week.
Email info is in my bio.

Happy Hump Day!

A fresh start

I know it has been a good long while since I last posted and I could spit out every good excuse in the book but, I wont.
I want to turn over a new leaf and start blogging consistently. Katie (baby Belle. For any new readers, her middle name is Annabelle a.k.a where Belle comes from)is going to be 16 months old this Wednesday and I just feel the importance of documenting this journey. No joke, everyday she is waking up doing or saying new things. I want to catch it all.
I have a plan for this blogging journey that is just a structure block to help me get adjusted.
Monday: Weekend Recap.
Wednesday: Devotionals(whats new with me and God. How can I pray for you?)
Friday: Funny Friday!
Fingers crossed that I will stick to this.
I feel empowered and ready to open this new chapter. I hope you will join me and enjoy the ride.
Welcome to this life of mine. =)

Weekend Recap
Friday night was quite the surprise because Troy and I were able to go on a date! That's right folks, a date. =)
Grandma Kathy watched Katie while we went to C.B & Potts for dinner. I highly recommend going if you've never been. It was delicious and considering I'm married to a P.E. teacher, I liked the fact that different sports were on all the large flat screens.
We came home around 8:30pm and Katie was more then happy to have us back.
We put her down for bed and popped in the movie Captain Phillips.

Beyond good ladies and gentlemen.
Saturday morning it was snowing once again here in CO (per the norm) and it was freezing cold. My sweet hubby went and got us some yummy Starbucks. Call me crazy because even on a ice cold Colorado day I want to enjoy an ice cold caramel Frapp with extra caramel in the cup and on top thank you very much. ;)
And that's exactly what I did. Proudly.
Troy is also the Athletic Director at his school so he has to attend A LOT of social events and games outside of normal school hours.
His Saturdays have been booked most of January-now, and we are missing him tons.
So, we spent Saturday as a mommy daughter day and hung out inside. A warm bath, a movie or two and some food. That's our motto.
Sunday we went to Church and heard an awesome sermon from a guest speaker, Bishop of the IPHC, Larry H.
His talk was on the Holy Spirit and how our Church's need more of Him! I couldn't agree more. It was a great talk but, more of that on Wednesday.
We grabbed a quick lunch with some friends and I took Katie home for a nap finally around 1 o'clock.
Later that night Troy whipped us up some homemade pizza (Which BTW he is the King of) and we watched the Oscars.
Time to start this week off right!
Hurray! I actually posted something.
=)
This fresh start feels good.
